Remember when.... the Chevy VOLT was just a Bold Dream?

It was not long ago that General Motors showed a wild new concept car at a limited number of auto shows... it was January 2007 to be exact when the Chevy VOLT Concept vehicle was first shown. A bold idea with the wild, at the time, claim of 40 miles all electric, gas-free driving PLUS an extended range mode that would provide up to 300 more miles. At the time this seemed like crazy talk.
Well, fast forward just three years later and the Chevy VOLT is about to become a retail production reality. In fact, we've been taking orders from interested consumers from Greenwich, Stamford, Norwalk, Westport and of course, New Canaan. The VOLT will be in limited supply initially, but production volumes will build over the course of the first year. We expect the first VOLT models will begin arriving in late November or early December of this year.
During the Summer Olympics in 2008, Chevrolet unveiled a TV commercial that featured the VOLT concept.... this commercial aired in late July and early August 2008. Take a look and see if you remember this spot, then compare this video to the photos below of the actual, soon-to-be, production version of the VOLT.
