Few events stir up as much excitement and anticipation as a good fireworks display.  How will your family celebrate Independence Day this year?

If your family is anything like ours, viewing at least one annual July 4th Fireworks display is a must! Thus, we have researched the 2013 Independence Day weekend schedule for surrounding Fairfield County Fireworks…..

OUR HOMETOWN – NEW CANAAN: The Town has released the details of the 33rd Annual New Canaan Family 4th Fireworks … Set for Thursday, July 4, 2012, at Waveny Park. This year the event is planned to spark the interest of the entire family with children’s inflatable bouncers, magician The Great Siroco, the Town Band, glow necklaces, and plenty of food, including burgers, hot dogs, wraps, salads, and more.  The Exchange Club will be selling soda, ice cream and bottled water.

The park will open to the public at 5:00pm; entry will only be allowed with a pass. The fireworks display is expected to start around 9:15pm.

The celebration is funded entirely by the sale of passes (no longer available online). Residents may elect to make an additional donation to the event when purchasing a pass.

New Canaan Family Fourth Fireworks passes are no longer available on-line.

Passes may be purchased at the Recreation Department in Waveny House and at the First Selectman’s Office in Town Hall as follows:
On June 29th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM in front of the Movie Theatre
Through July 3rd from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM @ Recreation Department

Proof of residency is required. A limited number of non-resident passes are available at the Recreation Department Office for $60 per pass.

In case of inclement weather, information will be available by calling 203.594.3610, by logging into www.newcanaan.info or by tuning into cablevision channel 79.  The RAIN DATE is Friday, July 5th.

29-Jun Coventry: The Fireworks at Coventry Lake, Patriots Park will be on Saturday June 29 from 3:00 p.m. to 9 p.m.
29-Jun Danbury: Danbury’s Fireworks will be on June 29 at dusk at Candlewood Lake
29-Jun East Haven: East Haven’s 13th Annual Fireworks and Beach Party will be on June 29 from noon to 9 p.m. on Cosey Beach.
29-Jun Hebron: The fireworks at Hebron will be on June 29 at the Hebron Lyons Club.
2-Jul Rockville: Rockville’s July in the Sky celebration will be in downtown Rockville at Henry Park and the Northeast School on July 2. Fireworks will start after dark.
2-Jul Vernon: Vernon’s July in the Sky Celebration will be on July 2 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Henry Park. Fireworks will begin around 9:40 p.m.
2-Jul Westbrook: Fireworks will be visible over Westbrook from Water’s Edge Resort and Spa, Wren Park, West Beach, and Westbrook Town hall on July 2 at approximately 9:30 p.m.
3-Jul Derby/Shelton: On July 3 fireworks will be displayed near the Derby/Shelton bridge over the Housatonic River shortly after dusk.
3-Jul Killingly/Dayville: Fireworks will be at Owen Bell Park on July 3 at approximately 9:15 p.m.
3-Jul Middletown: Middletown’s Fireworks Festival is Wednesday, July 3, at 6 p.m., and features a music festival on the lawn of City Hall and a fireworks display around 9:30 p.m. over the Connecticut River, accompanied by the the Middletown Symphonic Band. The music festival prior to the fireworks features performances by the Middletown High School Traveling Jazz Band and Forever Motown, plus food vendors. 3-Jul Naugatuck: Naugatuck’s fireworks will be on July 3 at approximately 9 p.m on Maple Street downtown.
3-Jul Norwalk: Norwalk’s fireworks will be at the Norwalk Recreation and Parks Department on July 3 after dusk.
3-Jul Stratford: Fireworks over Short Beach will be on July 3 at approximately 9:30 p.m. The rain date for the event is July 5.
3-Jul West Haven: The Savin’ Rock Fireworks at Bradley Point on July 3.
3-Jul Westport: On Compo Beach on July 3 the Westport Police Athletic League will be sponsoring a fireworks display over Westport.
4-Jul Bethany: The Bethany Freedom Festival will be at Eldon Lyon Park on July 4.
4-Jul New Canaan: The 33rd Annual New Canaan Family Fourth Fireworks will be at Wavenly Park on July 4. Rain date is July 5.
4-Jul Cheshire: The Cheshire fireworks will be on July 4 at approximately 9:15 p.m. at Kurtz Farms
4-Jul Fairfield: The Fairfield Fireworks 4th of July Celebration will be at approximately 9:15 on July 4 at 880 Benson Road, Fairfield. Parking is free after 6 p.m.

4-Jul Middlebury: Quassy Amusement Park will be hosting 3D Fireworks on July 4 at dark.
4-Jul New Haven’s Fourth of July celebration begins at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, at the Summit of East Rock Park, 41 Cold Spring St., New Haven. Live music, free horse-drawn carriage rides, food and a soldiers and sailors monument tour are part of the fun, finishing with the fireworks show at 9:15 p.m. Shuttle buses available; parking is $5. 4-Jul New Britain: New Britain’s Great American Boom in Stanley Quarter Park, 451 Blake Rd., New Britain, is on Thursday, July 4, from 5 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. There will be giant trampolines, pony rides, clowns, carnival games and food, and live music featuring Latanya Farrell and the Bookman Styles Band. 4-Jul Ridgefield: The Ridgefield fireworks will be at Ridgefield High School on July 4 at dusk.
4-Jul Rowayton: Fireworks in Rowayton will be at Bayley Beach on July 4 at approximately 9:15 p.m.
4-Jul Trumbull: The fields behind Trumbull High School and Hillcrest Middleschool will provide a viewing place for the Trumbull Day celebration featuring fireworks at dark.
4-Jul Waterbury: The Waterbury fireworks will be at Municipal Stadium on July 4 at approximately 9:15 p.m.
4-Jul Weston: The fireworks in Weston will be at Weston Middles School Field on July 4 around 9:20 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the event will be postponed until July 5.
4-Jul Wilton: The Wilton Green will be the primary viewing spot for the 4th of July celebration in Wilton. The display will start after dark.
5-Jul Bristol: The fireworks at Lake Compounce,186 Enterprise Drive Bristol, start at 10 p.m. on July 5 and are free with park admission. Information here.
5-Jul New Milford: Fireworks will be at the Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce on July 5.
5-Jul Norwich: Norwich’s 4th of July Extravagnaza will be on July 5 at 7 p.m. at the Marina at American Wharf.
5-Jul Washington/Warren/Kent: Lake Waramaug State Park will the location for fireworks on July 5 starting at 9:30 p.m.
6-Jul Greenwich: Binney Park at Greenwich Point will be hosting fireworks on July 6 after dark.
6-Jul Hartford: This year’s Riverfest is July 6 beginning at 4 p.m. at two locations: Mortensen Riverfront Plaza in Hartford and Great River Park in East Hartford. Free activities include a water-ski show, lumber-jack competition, live bands, amusements, kids’ activities, food and more. The fireworks start at 9 p.m. Backpacks will not be allowed. 6-Jul Manchester will hold its 30th annual Independence Day Celebration at Manchester Community College on Saturday, July 6, starting at 4 p.m. There will be children’s activities, live music featuring Skyline Drive and The Mohegan Sun All-Stars and a town-wide chicken barbecue. Fireworks start at 9:30 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, July 7. Tickets for the chicken barbecue are $7 in advance and $8 on the day of the event. Information: 860-647-5235 or www.townofmanchester.org.
6-Jul Putnam: Putnam’s fireworks will be at Rotary Park on July 6 at approximately 9:15. In case of inclement weather, the event will be postponed until July 7.
6-Jul Stafford: Stafford’s Summerfest 2013 at Stafford High School will feature Fireworks on July 6. In case of inclement weather the event will be postponed until July 7.
6-Jul Wallingford: Wallingford Fireworks will be at Sheehan High School on July 6 at 9:15 p.m.
7-Jul Enfield: Following a “Taste of Enfield” the Fireworks Extravaganza will held at 820 Enfield St. and fireworks will begin around 9:45 on July 7.
7-Jul Lebanon: Fireworks will be visible from the Lebanon Green at 9:30 p.m. on July 7.
7-Jul Meriden: The City of Meriden Recreation Department will be sponsoring fireworks at Hubbard Park at 9:15 p.m. on July 7.
12-Jul Groton: Groton will be hosting fireworks at Fort Griswold State Park on Thames River on July 12 around 9:20 p.m.
12-Jul Unionville: Unionville’s Volunteer Fire Department Carnival will be hosting fireworks at 9:30 p.m. on July 12.
12-Jul Windsor Locks: Fireworks in Windsor Locks will be at Veteran’s Memorial Park Sponsored by the Fire Department on July 12. The display will start around 9:30 p.m.
13-Jul New London: New London’s Salifest Fireworks Extravaganza will be held on July 13 around 9 p.m. at 124 State St.
13-Jul Salisbury: On July 13 fireworks will be over Lime Rock Park courtesy of the Salisbury Rotary Club. There is a $20 admission for each car. Fireworks start after dark.
20-Jul East Lyme: Niantic Bay will be the location for East Lyme’s fireworks on July 20 around 9 p.m.
20-Jul Newington: Newington’s fireworks will be at Mill Pond Park on July 20 after dark.
3-Aug Orange: The Orange Volunteer Fireman’s Carnival at the Orange Fairground will contain a fireworks display on Aug. 3 a 10:30 p.m.

July 4th Annual Push-n-Pull Parade — DARIEN, CT July 4, 2013

Start stocking up on red, white and blue streamers and decorations so you’re ready to wrap your bikes and Radio Flyer wagons and join more than 2,000 of your closest friends this July 4th in the YWCA of Darien-Norwalk 9th Annual Push-n-Pull Parade! It’s a party from the beginning of the route, where, at Goodwives Shopping Center at 10:30am SHARP, Live Music will be entertaining the waiting crowd, through the parade which will be led by an authentic fife & drum band, all the way to the end of the parade, where major festivities continue at Tilley Pond Park, where there will be more live music and food. Insider tip: get to Goodwives early in order to get a good spot in the line which means you get to be at the front of the parade. It’s more fun to be in the lead. This is THE event of the summer in Darien, hoards of people come out for it, the stroll along the Post Road is fun and leisurely, you see everyone you know, and the party at Tilley Pond afterwards is great for the whole family. New London Sailfest: July 12 to 14

New London’s Sailfest 2013 runs July 12 to 14 and features fireworks, amusement rides, kids shows at the City Pier stage, music, tall ships and more than 200 vendors lining the downtown streets. The fireworks display will be on July 13 at 9 p.m. Information: sailfestnl.org.
