2011 Chevrolet Cruze is the first vehicle to earn a total vehicle 5-Star safety score under NTHSA's new crash test standards

The 2011 Chevrolet Cruze is the first vehicle tested under NTHSA's new crash-test rating system to earn five stars in every category, thus becoming the first car to achieve a total vehicle 5-star Safety Score.

For the 2011 model year, the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NTHSA) has revised their New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). The new program is a different testing procedure for the NHTSA five star test rating. NHTSA is basically making it harder for new cars and trucks to earn the government agency's highest and coveted five-star safety rating. Just like emissions, things are getting a lot harder for car manufacturers.

Karl Chevrolet in New Canaan wishes to Thank all of our customers who donated toys to our effort to collect for the US Marine Corps Toys for Tots program this year.  In a sign of what a great community we have, our Silverado Pickup was filled to over flowing many times during the past month as once again, Karl Chevrolet collected a significant portion of the total number of toys collected throughout southern Connecticut.  For more than twenty five years, Karl Chevrolet has supported this wonderful cause, and as part of the Chevy's Giving More effort, the 2010 collection was among the best ever.

It's a great day to drive Electric!

After nearly 47 months of anticipation, the Chevy VOLT has evolved from a bold auto show concept, unveiled by GM Executive Bob Lutz at the January 2007 Detroit Auto Show, to the ground breaking, award winning production vehicle that it is today.  The Chevrolet VOLT is the world's first extended range electric vehicle; the first electric vehicle with unlimited range. KARL Chevrolet is proud to make the first official delivery of a 2011 Chevrolet VOLT to a Connecticut resident today, December 21, 2010, at 2:30pm.

Frank and Linda Calder will take delivery of a beautiful new Diamond White Tricoat Metallic VOLT featuring Ebony Leather interior with Ceramic White accents - VOLT #029 that has been built!  Frank is a retired engineer from Duracell Corporation, and the VOLT is Linda's Christmas present.  Frank has been closely following the VOLT's development on www.GM-VOLT.com, a blog site started by NY area physician, Dr. Lyle Dennis.  Frank has also been a regular visitor to KARL Chevrolet's website and the Calders placed their order back in July when VOLT orders were first accepted.  At that time, Frank stated his goal was to "get Linda a VOLT for Christmas."  We are very pleased to have been able to accommodate the Calder's wishes, and would like to extend a thank you to John Hughes at GM who helped make this Christmas gift a reality.

The first 2011 Chevy VOLT's arrive at KARL Chevrolet in New Canaan CT

The first 2011 Chevrolet VOLT Electric Cars have arrived at KARL Chevrolet in New Canaan, CT.  After almost four years of anticipation, the VOLT is now a reality that America can be proud of.  This car represents our country's best hopes of dramatically reducing our economy's dependence on foreign oil.  While not for everyone, the 2011 Chevy VOLT is the perfect vehicle for any customer who travels a predictable 30 to 50 miles per day and then takes an occasional longer trip.  With the VOLT's 35 to 50 mile all-electric range, the average driver will use no gasoline in their daily commute.  But with the VOLT's onboard gas-powered generator, the VOLT is the world's only Electric Vehicle with virtually unlimited range.  A tank of fuel will take you an additional 320+ miles before you need to stop to recharge or simply fill up with gas like a normal vehicle.

UPDATE as of 7:30pm Saturday December 11, 2010:  the 2010 HOPE LIGHTS LIVES Luminary effort has been postponed from Sunday, December 12th to SUNDAY DECEMBER 19th due to the forecast of rain all day tomorrow.  Thank you for your support.

Nothing signifies HOPE more than a single illuminated candle – unless of course there are thousands of illuminated candles!  KARL Chevrolet is proud to once again serve as the New Canaan distribution center for the 2010 “Hope Lights Lives” Luminary Campaign. On Sunday evening, December 12, 2010 at 5:00pm, neighborhoods throughout lower Fairfield County will be illuminated by literally thousands of white luminaries in what has become one of the areas most visible and unique fundraisers.

This year's campaign promises to be the most expansive yet, as dozens of additional neighborhoods in Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Rowayton, Stamford, Weston and Wilton have already pledged their support by agreeing to set out luminaries on the lighting night.
